The woman replied, This is a deep well andyou don't have anything to get water with. Tellme, how are you getting the living water? Doyou think you are greater than Jacob, whogave us this well?
"The woman said, “Sir, where will you get thatliving water? The well is very deep, and youhave nothing to get water with. Are yougreater than our ancestor Jacob? He is theone who gave us this well. He drank from ithimself, and his sons and all his animals drankfrom it too.” John 4:11-12 ERV

CHILDLESS COUPLE AND ELISHA
STRANGEST THINGS OF THE BIBLE
A WOMAN IN SHUNEM OFFERED
ELISHA A MEAL EVERY TIME
HE CAME THROUGH TOWN
ELISHA A MEAL EVERY TIME
HE CAME THROUGH TOWN
"One day Elisha went to Shunem, where there was a prominent woman; and she persuaded him to eat bread. So it was, that as often as he passed by, he turned in there to eat bread.
2 Kings 4:8 WEB
The woman talked to her husband about
building a guest room for Elisha on the roof of
their home, since he was a frequent visitor.
"She said to her husband, “See now, I perceive
that this is a holy man of God who passes by
us continually. Please let us make a little room
on the roof. Let us set for him there a bed, a
table, a chair, and a lamp stand. When he
comes to us, he can stay there.”
2 Kings 4:9-10 WEB
Elisha greatly appreciated the guest room and
hospitality, and had his servant Gehazi, come
up to talk to him. Elisha asked the
Shunammite woman if he could speak a kind
word to the king or to the captain of the army
for her.
"One day he came there, and he went to the
room and lay there. He said to Gehazi his
servant, “Call this Shunammite.” When he had
called her, she stood before him. He said to
him, “Say now to her, ‘Behold, you have cared
for us with all this care. What is to be done for
you? Would you like to be spoken for to the
king, or to the captain of the army?’”
She answered, “I dwell among my own
people.” 2 Kings 4:11-13 WEB
Later, Elisha talked with his servant about how
they could bless this couple. Gehazi, this old
couple doesn't have a son.
"He said, “What then is to be done for her?”
Gehazi answered, “Most certainly she has no
son, and her husband is old.” 2 Kings 4:14 WEB
Elisha told Gehazi to tell the woman, 'I want to
speak to you.' Elisha told the woman she was
going to have a son.
The woman replied, 'Don't tease and lie to me.'
"He said, “Call her.” When he had called her,
she stood in the door. He said, “At this
season, when the time comes around, you will
embrace a son.”
She said, “No, my lord, you man of God, do not
lie to your servant.” 2 Kings 4:15-16 WEB
She gave birth to a son at the season Elisha
predicted.
"The woman conceived, and bore a son at that
season, when the time came around, as
Elisha had said to her. 2 Kings 4:17 WEB
Years later, the child was grown and helping
the reapers. Running to his father, he cried
out, 'My head is hurt.' The father had his
servant carry the injured boy to his mom.
"When the child was grown, one day he went
out to his father to the reapers. He said to his
father, “My head! My head!”
He said to his servant, “Carry him to his
mother.” 2 Kings 4:18-19 WEB
Mom comforted the child until he died at noon.
She laid the body in the guest room, on
Elisha's bed.
"When he had taken him, and brought him to
his mother, he sat on her knees until noon,
and then died.
She went up and laid him on the man of God’s
bed, and shut the door on him, and went out.
2 Kings 4:20-21 WEB
Rushing to her husband, She said, 'Quickly I
need a servant and a donkey, so I can find
that man of God and bring him here.
"She called to her husband, and said, “Please
send me one of the servants, and one of the
donkeys, that I may run to the man of God,
and come again.” 2 Kings 4:22 WEB
Her husband replied, 'Why do you need a man
of God? It's not a holy day. She said, 'It's all
right...don't worry.'
"He said, “Why would you want go to him
today? It is not a new moon or a Sabbath.”
She said, “It’s alright.” 2 Kings 4:23 WEB
The woman told the servant to hurry and not
wait for her if she lags behind.
"Then she saddled a donkey, and said to her
servant, “Drive, and go forward! Don’t slow
down for me, unless I ask you to.”
2 Kings 4:24 WEB
Elisha saw the woman coming in the distance,
so he told his servant Gehazi to run out to
meet her and ask her if if something is wrong.
"So she went, and came to the man of God to
Mount Carmel. When the man of God saw her
afar off, he said to Gehazi his servant,
“Behold, there is the Shunammite. Please run
now to meet her, and ask her, ‘Is it well with
you? Is it well with your husband? Is it well
with your child?’”
She answered, “It is well.” 2 Kings 4:25-26 WEB
When the woman reached Elisha, crying, she
grabbed the man of God's feet. Gehazi, was
about to pull her off; but Elisha told him to
leave her alone.
"When she came to the man of God to the hill,
she caught hold of his feet. Gehazi came near
to thrust her away; but the man of God said,
“Leave her alone; for her soul is troubled
within her; and Yahweh has hidden it from me,
and has not told me.”
"Then she said, “Did I ask you for a son, my
lord? Didn’t I say, ‘Do not deceive me’?”
2 Kings 4:27-28 WEB
Elisha told his servant, 'Take my staff and lay it
on the child's face. Tuck in your cloak and get
going'.
"Then he said to Gehazi, “Tuck your cloak into
your belt, take my staff in your hand, and go
your way. If you meet any man, don’t greet
him; and if anyone greets you, don’t answer
him again. Then lay my staff on the child’s
face.”
"The child’s mother said, “As Yahweh lives,
and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.”
So he arose, and followed her."
2 Kings 4:29-30 WEB
Gehazi arrived first, laying the staff on the
child...nothing!
"Gehazi went ahead of them, and laid the staff
on the child’s face; but there was no voice and
or hearing. Therefore he returned to meet him,
and told him, “The child has not awakened.”
2 Kings 4:31 WEB
When Elisha arrived, he went up to the guest
room and found the child dead, lying on his
bed. He shut the door and prayed.
"When Elisha had come into the house,
behold, the child was dead, and lying on his
bed. He went in therefore, and shut the door
on them both, and prayed to Yahweh.
He went up, and lay on the child, and put his
mouth on his mouth, and his eyes on his eyes,
and his hands on his hands. He stretched
himself on him; and the child’s flesh grew
warm. Then he returned, and walked in the
house once back and forth; and went up, and
stretched himself out on him. Then the child
sneezed seven times, and the child opened
his eyes." 2 Kings 4:32-35 WEB
After the child sneezed and opened his eyes,
Elisha told his servant to bring the woman.
"He called Gehazi, and said, “Call this
Shunammite!” So he called her."
2 Kings 4:36 WEB
Elisha told her to pick up her boy.
When she had come in to him, he said,
“Take up your son.”
"Then she went in, fell at his feet, and bowed
herself to the ground; then she picked up her
son, and went out."
