ARE WE SAVED BY OUR GOOD WORKS?
The mayor and owner of the railroad, rings a bell for all
the people to gather in the town square.
Most of the people gather rapidly to find out what is going
on; while a few ignored the bell staying home taking naps.
The mayor quiets the crowd, then speaks in a serious
tone. "We are evacuating the entire town
because there’s a fire storm approaching from different sides. There will be one last train to safety, and
we’re leaving at noon. Not a minute
later."
A railroad worker shouts out, "But the engine on the train
isn’t working and will not be able to pull the heavy train loaded with
passengers."
The mayor replied, "I understand, so I contacted my
son. He’s bringing a more powerful
engine for our train."
One skeptic says, "We don’t believe he’s going to make
it. He’ll be coming through the forest
fire. Everyone, It’s time we save ourselves."
The mayor replies to the skeptics. "Don’t be foolish! If my son says he will be here on time, I
believe him. Have faith!"
The skeptic shouts to the crowd, "Run to the train and get on
board. We have a better plan to save everyone. If we can pull the train over the first hill, it will be downhill all the way."
The train is parked on the track facing the way leading to the forest fire. Quickly they disconnect the bad train engine removing it from the rest of the train cars.
People panicking rush into the passenger cars.
Husky men and women get ropes and tie it to the caboose, pulling the train backwards.
They strain, unable to move the large train even one inch. Cleverly, some workers disconnect the caboose from the passenger cars without being noticed.
The caboose being pulled by men with ropes begins to move away, leaving the passengers behind, yelling out their windows.
The mayor yells to those pulling the caboose.
"Why can't you at least wait for my son to arrive. He is the way, the truth and the life."
With brute force they are able to move the caboose.
Struggling to the top of the mountain pass, they are about to have an easy ride the rest of the way down the hill to the valley below.
Quickly, the workers gather their ropes and jump inside the caboose.
One worker says, "We are justified by our faith by doing good works. Who needs the son, when we can save ourselves."
The caboose begins to glide down the hill. Faster and faster it goes.
One man shouts out, "Where's the brakes?"
Looking out a window they see a sharp turn. The caboose speeds around the corner, tilting, and crashing into a ravine below.
The last words heard, "I guess we're not saved by our works," as they meet their eternal destiny below.
ARE YOU SAVED BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH?
PARABLE OF THE TRAIN part 2
Like the mayor promised, the new train engine arrives on time and everyone
cheers.
The son steps out and collapses, dying in the father’s arms;
saying, “It is finished.”
The mayor says to the crowd, "It is my free gift that you
will be saved. My son sacrificed his
life so that you may have abundant life."
A rich man approaches the mayor, "Here I insist that you take
my money for the ride."
The mayor tells the rich man, "I am insulted, and all
the money in the world cannot pay for his son’s sacrifice. Go, buy your ride from someone else."
A married couple tells the mayor, "We just got married. We’re going to stay and catch the first train
tomorrow."
A farmer and family tells the mayor, "We bought a new piece
of property and need to look at it before we leave. Can you delay leaving for several hours?"
A woman asks the mayor, "Can you wait a few minutes more, so I can gather my jewelry, clothing and gold coins."
The mayor tells the woman, "We’re leaving at noon, with or
without you. What good are your possessions if you lose your own life."
The new engine is hooked up to the rest of the train, and
frightened passengers board.
On the hills surrounding the mining town they see flames and
smoke approaching.
The engineer blows his whistle as the last few jump aboard. Some people jump out of the train refusing to go, crying, "Don't believe the mayor, the town isn't going to burn down."
The mayor cries out, "It's 12 noon, everyone that has faith please come aboard!"
Because of the Son’s sacrifice, the new train engine is able to pull the heavy load up to the mountain pass.
The mayor declares,
“Indeed, it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.”

DID JESUS EVER SPEAK ABOUT THE TRINITY?
IS THIS IN YOUR BIBLE?
"Jesus' eleven disciples went to a mountain in Galilee, where Jesus had told them to meet him. They saw him and worshiped him, but some of them doubted."
Jesus came to them and said:
I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth! Go to the people of all nations and make them my disciples. Baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to do everything I have told you. I will be with you always, even until the end of the world."
Matthew 28:16-20 CEV (Contempary English Version)
The Father is God!
Jesus is God and has been given all authority in heaven and on earth; commanding his disciples to go to all people groups to make disciples and baptize them.
And the Holy Spirit is God, being the one who will dwell with you always, even until the end of the world.
There are three person and one God.

GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
"Now concerning spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant. You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, however you were led. Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed!” And no one can say, “Jesus is the Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit."
"There are various gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. There are various operations, but it is the same God who operates all of them in all people."
"But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to everyone for the common good. To one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom, to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues.
But that one and very same Spirit works all these, dividing to each one individually as He will.
I Corinthians 12:1-11 MEV (Modern English Version)
If you are Born of the Spirit and allow the Holy Spirit to work in your life, God is able to give you any or all of these gifts, for the purpose of building up His Kingdom. There's only one Holy Spirit and He decides which gifts you will need at any moment.
