 WHAT DOES "ONE" MEAN?"

ONE IS THE LONELIEST NUMBER?

The Trinity is the Christian doctrine that there is one God Creator of the Heavens and the Earth, who exists as three distinct persons, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Old Testament has different Hebrew words for "one"; Echad, and Yachid. 

Echad, can mean a unified one as described in these verses:

"That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh."

"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one."  Deuteronomy 6:4 NIV (New International Version)

"Again a message came to me from the Lord:  “Son of man, take a piece of wood and carve on it these words: ‘This represents Judah and its allied tribes.’ Then take another piece and carve these words on it: ‘This represents Ephraim and the northern tribes of Israel.'  Now hold them together in your hand as if they were one piece of wood.

Yachid, occurs 12 times in the Bible, meaning only, one, solitary and unique when used as an adjective and simply one when used substantively. 

"When Jephthah returned home to Mizpah, his daughter came out to meet him, playing on a tambourine and dancing for joy. She was his one and only child; he had no other sons or daughters."

There is a lot of debate of what the word "ONE" means.  The Old Testament Hebrew words Echad and Yachid sometimes have multiple meanings; but Echad is proof that "one" can mean being unified; as a man and a women becoming one flesh.  And the Holy Spirit used the Hebrew word Echad and not Yachid in the shema.

 

How can a man and a woman, two persons become one?  How can three persons, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit be one God?

It can be confusing to a lot of people of what "one" means.  But if it means "unified one,"  everything makes perfect sense.

THE WHITE HORSEMAN IS CARRYING A BOW AND ARROWS.  THIS IS NOT JESUS CHRIST, BUT THE MAN OF LAWLESSNESS.
